Hello Mr. Wolf,

I first discovered The Woodcutter in my basement sitting on a shelf. It looked interesting so I thought I'd give it a try. To put it simply I was blown away. Never in my life had I read a story quiet like this. I'm no expert on literary techniques and critical examination but I know with complete certainty that this is the best fantasy series of all time. I couldn't believe that I, at the time an 11 year old girl, was reading about this old mans life and actually enjoying it! I love Ivan, he's amazing and it confused me for so long because I really only read books where the protagonist is 12-16 years old. Everything about this book seems like it should be predictable but it somehow isn't! I was completely lost in the book and I wanted to give Claude a piece of my mind! Quiet honestly though this has to be the pinnacle of the book. It's so real and so infuriating, its just something I've never experienced with any other story. Shyla and Cade have to be my favourite though! I love that Shyla. She is so inspiring and Cade is just awesome. After waiting impatiently for the second book, I devoured it and was even more in love with this world than I thought possible. Now this was an adventure of untold proportions. There was so much going on but it never overwhelmed me like most books do. The way everything is connected and intertwined is pure genius. I can't express how much this series means to me, these characters are real and guide me every day as I try to survive being a teenager. I can not wait to read The Breaking I was literally vibrating with excitement! When I was looking to order my copy. I'm really trying, and failing, to not sound like a crazy fan, so sorry if this is a weird and awkward letter. Thank you for writing these stories. They've really helped me make it through some tough times and allowed me to escape reality when it gets too hard. Thank you for giving me this world, It encourages me to stay strong, and keep fighting. Thank you for the Balance Series, it's changed my life in a way I can't describe.

Your Crazy-Broken-Obsessed-In Love with the Balance Series Fan,

I read this book in two days. It was amazing. I felt like I was really in the story. I met Lorn Wolf in Calgary, Canada at an Indigo store. That was when I bought it and he signed it. The whole story kept me wanting more and I cannot wait for the second book! I cannot start another book yet because I can't stop thinking about this one! Like I said, I cannot wait for the second book and we should all THANK Lorn Wolf for his amazing books and his amazing talent. Thank you for writing!!

That book, The Woodcutter, is amazing. ( I read a lot of fantasy, so you can take my word on this.) Instantly, as I picked up the book, I knew I would have a hard time stopping, so I tried to keep myself from reading until I would have enough time... and that failed. It just continued calling to me, begging that I read it, and when I did, I was blown away. Most books advertised for young to old are more simple, but this book has layers upon layers of depth, and is written so well it was incredibly difficult to stop myself from reading late into the night, and as soon as I had extra time the next day I leapt back to the book, eager to continue the riveting tale of the simple, but very interesting woodcutter. Thank you for being at the mall that day, and I can hardly wait for the next installment to join my shelves!!!

I just finished reading "The Woodcutter" by Lorn Wolf. He's a new BC author, and wow, can that man write. His book is a family friendly fantasy drama (completely nonviolent and no vulgar language) But what a great story and what an awesome setting and culture he has created. He's a great story teller with a very unique style. The book is all about quality of life and how to treat people around you. It's amazing how he was able to write a family friendly book, yet keep it so entertaining. I couldn't put it down. I usually don't read fiction. Find most of the plots too predictable, but with "The Woodcutter", I found it wasn't even close to what I expected. In fact, the most impressive aspect was the fact that there were no heroes, just some really good lessons on how one should live life.... IT'S A MUST READ!!!!

Lorn..A while back, (over a year ago I'm sure), I met you at a Chapters book signing. I think it was at Chinook Mall in Calgary. Anyway, i purchased your book,'The Woodcutter'. It sat on my shelf for quite some time until recently. I wanted to let you know that I LOVED IT!!! You said to me that it was kind of like Harry Potter, but actually, in some ways I think it was better. What a wholesome story! It got my imagination going like crazy. Have you written and published the second book in the series yet? I'm desperately looking forward to reading it... I literally just finished it moments ago and miss the characters already. So much of the story is unresolved. I NEED the next book!!!

Good evening. I bought your book a few days ago from you at the Indigo store in Calgary. I finished it last night. Thank you for introducing me to your creation. I thought your characters were well developed. The story line was focused. Your descriptions of the kingdom were perfect; just enough to let my imagination fill in the detail. I was swept up in this story as soon as I picked it up. I can't wait for the second book. You have a new fan. I am an avid reader and look forward to another journey into this world of your creation.

Hi, Lorn. My son bought your book when we were at Chapters and you were there at a table. He has read so many books i could not even tell you the number, but for an 11 year old it is a lot. Your Woodcutter novel is now his favourite. He absolutely loves it!!! Could you tell me if the second book in the series, 'The Sol'mar, is it written yet, and if so, where we can buy a copy in Calgary? Thanks.

The Woodcutter is an excellent, logical book. The plot has a woodcutter struggling to support his family due to the recent influx of coal use. Within the stuggle he has a nemesis intent on turning him to 'the dark side' of coal, and a magical being with an unknown interest in his daughter. Lorn Wolf expertly uses back story and suspense to weave a tale that any fantasy reader will love!!! Question: When is the next book coming out?

"The Woodcutter" is a superb fantasy adventure that will take you away from the stress of everyday life. And the good news is that it's the first of three books! Lorn, I am so proud of you...witnessing your talent over the years has been a light in my life. I loved your music and now I love your novel....!!!

"The Woodcutter". I love fiction and fantasy. When I read this book I fell in love with the story. It has all the elements of life and love. I especially like the way the story starts giving you the basics of who the characters are and what they do. No guessing in the reading. I really like to know the characters and not have to go looking for the basics. Yet there are many surprises in the story. I found it really hard to put the book down. This is the best book of fiction and fantasy I have read in a long time. The fact that there is no vulgarity in this book is wonderful for everyone. Lorn, you have done a marvelous job of writing. I can hardly wait to read the next two books in the series. Wishing you success.

I just wanted to write in regards to your book, The Woodcutter. My husband and I were fortunate enough to meet you in Edmonton. We talked with you and purchased your book. Thank you again for signing it for us. I called " dibs" on reading it first. We had a busy little while, so I wasn't able to read it every day (which was disappointing to say the least) .. I just finished it today. I have to say, it is fantastic! I cannot wait for the next one and we are very excited that you are trying to make a movie of it. Congratulations. You are an excellent story teller. I enjoyed every minute. I fell in love with the characters (well, most of them, haha) and felt as though I was there with them. You cannot write the next novel fast enough .. I'm just itching to find out what happens next. My husband is looking forward to reading it .. and then we are going to read it to our children after that. . . Thanks again Lorn!

Hello Lorn, 'The Woodcutter' book is great. I am glad I took a chance on it and bought it. I haven't read fiction/fantasy for a long long time, and I'm glad I was able to add another book to my collection. You are on your way to becoming one of my favourite authors! I enjoyed the book itself very much. It didn't take me long to finish it at all, and I felt compelled to keep reading. I like how you answer any questions I had as I kept reading. Kept the book very clear and focused. I can't wait for your next book and hope you come out with it soon. All in all, I'm really glad I bought your book and am looking forward to reading the next book, and perhaps another series in this world.
